Malcolm X Talk: Navigating the 2016 General Election

October 29, 2016 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Join us for a special edition of our Malcolm X Talk where we discuss and get involved in the 2016 Election!

Date: October 29, 2016
Time: 1pm-5pm
Place: Real News Network, 231 Holliday St., Baltimore, MD 21202

The event will be divided into two parts:

1pm – 2:30pm – Panel Discussion

We’ll have a conversation with a broad spectrum of political leaders. The goal is to give Baltimore folks information on how to use their vote to hold public officials and political parties accountable.

3pm – 5pm – Voting While Black Textathon with Color of Change

The issues affecting Black communities—police violence and an unfair criminal justice system, a changing economy and the lack of investment in our schools and communities—are central to this country’s success, so Black voters will play a very crucial role in helping to decide whether we elect politicians that will remove or exacerbate these problems for millions of Americans.

Voting While Black is a voter mobilization movement led by Color Of Change PAC—a Political Action Committee focused on building independent Black political power, amplifying Black voices, electing candidates who share our values, and holding them accountable to our communities. The Voting While Black campaign uses digital communications tools to engage Black voters in a massive volunteer effort aimed at getting out the vote from the top of the ticket to down-ballot races like prosecutor races, which can actually make the biggest, most immediate difference in how well Black communities thrive.

A Text-A-Thon is a strategic, collective action to contact Black voters in key battleground states and help motivate them to vote by or on November 8, 2016.

NOTE: This is NOT connected, in any way, to the presidential race or the Democratic/Republican Party. The goal of your participation will be to help get radical and progressive candidates elected in other down-ballot races happening around the country.

Lunch will be provided. This event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
